Social Networks data mining per NeoLuoghi ad EVA Florence 2015

Rigel ha presentato i risultati finali del progetto NeoLuoghi alla Conferenza EVA Florence 2015, nell’ambito della sessione “Access to Cultural Heritage”. Sono state illustrate  le tecnologie sviluppate da Rigel per l’integrazione e l’analisi dei social network allo scopo di completare l’esperienza di fruizione e di ottimizzare le raccomandazioni fornite per la visita sulla base del comportamento sui social dell’utente. L’articolo scientifico realizzato in collaborazione con i partner del progetto, si intitola “Social Networks Analysis to Enhance The Cultural Experience in the NeoLuoghi Project” ed è stato illustrato alla conferenza da Francesco Spadoni.

Nel contesto di una nuova offerta culturale realizzata sia in luoghi fisici come centri storici, campi di battaglia, aree archeologiche, ecc., sia in nuove strutture come i parchi tematici culturali, il progetto NeoLuoghi ha l’obiettivo di creare soluzioni coordinate per la progettazione, la gestione e la valorizzazione di questi nuovi contesti fruitivi, rappresentati dai parchi tematici “impliciti” (centri urbani) ed “espliciti” (parchi tematici artificiali di argomento culturale).

Abstract

This paper presents the results of NeoLuoghi, a research project co-funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and scientific Research (MIUR) under the PON R&C program, with special focus on the social networking aspects. The project proposes an innovative methodology as well as advanced technologies enabling a new paradigm for fruition of the cultural space and cognitive mediation, in “themed-parks”, based on the concept of neo-places (neoluoghi) as opposed to Marc Augé’s non-places. It also studies how to leverage Social Network analysis (social mining) to profile users, understand their interests and offer them engaging interactions with the cultural asset.


This paper presents the preliminary results of the MarcoPolo project, co-funded by the European Commission and the Italian Ministry of education, University and scientific Research (MIUR) under EUROSTARS, an innovation program addressed to European research intesive SMEs.
MarcoPolo aims at developing a mobile cross-platform metaframework based on the Open Source Roma Metaframework and Model Driven Architecture (MDA) techniques, for speeding up development for smartphones and tablets based on Android and iPhone. This is complemented by an innovative cloud- based Integrated Development Environment (IDE).

Il progetto NeoLuoghi presentato a EVA Florence 2014

Abstract

This paper presents the first results of NeoLuoghi, a research project co-funded by the Italian Ministry of education, University and scientific Research (MIUR) under the PON R&C program. The project proposes an innovative methodology as well as advanced technologies enabling a new paradigm for fruition of the cultural space and cognitive mediation, in “themed-parks”, based on the concept of neo- places (neoluoghi) as opposed to Marc Augé’s non-places. The paper briefly describes the methodology developed in NeoLuoghi for the automated production of myth-related narrative scripts for themed parks in a scenario of cultural fruition and gives details concerning the design of the visitor experience and in particular, the management of the social networking interactions in the themed park.

Il progetto MarcoPolo presentato a EVA Florence 2013

I risultati preliminare del progetto MarcoPolo sono stati presentati il 15 Maggio scorso alla Conferenza EVA Florence 2013, nell’ambito della sessione “EC PROJECTS AND RELATED NETWORKS & INITIATIVES”. L’articolo scientifico presentato da Francesco Spadoni, realizzato in collaborazione con i partner del progetto, si intitola “The Marcopolo Project: Agile Development of Mobile Cross-Platform Tourism Applications on the Cloud”. Il progetto MarcoPolo ha l’obiettivo di definire e sviluppare un meta-framework, cioè un’insieme di strumenti di sviluppo ad alto livello, che permette agli sviluppatori di astrarre dalle problematiche implementative della singola piattaforma mobile.

This paper presents the final results of the SMARTCITY project, co-funded by the Tuscany Region under the POR CREO 1.d program. The project proposes an innovative methodology as well as advanced technologies enabling professional services for cultural tourism applications in urban areas as well larger archaeological sites. As of today, many scientific and technological efforts in the specific sector focused on the introduction of technology and all the advantages it brings in cultural and tourism scenarios, rather than content. In addition, the lack of thorough analysis of the needs and behavioural pattern of the new “experience tourists” when performing real or virtual tourist routes, strongly limits the impact that new technologies have on the development of innovative products and services capable of completely fulfil user expectations.

The SMARTCITY project defines new ways of technological and content oriented “cognitive mediation” of the cultural and tourist experience, by implementing in a simplified but pragmatic and effective way, the paradigm of the so-called ambient intelligence. The project developed methodologies and solutions to meet the emerging demand of fruition of the cultural space and cognitive mediation directly or implicitly expressed by tourists. To this end, the project tries to replace old manual techniques and “handmade” manufacturing solutions, characterized by high intellectual labour intensity and very low flexibility in reuse and adaptation of the content, with industrial oriented methodologies suitable for large scale production, aimed at different fruition target, flexible in reuse and content cross- referencing. Such innovative methodologies allow to realistically enforce the business assumption of systematic, efficient and flexible market coverage of the national landscape of cities and places of culture, starting from the Tuscany regional scenario.

The first part of the research was dedicated to accurately and concretely modeling of user needs and behavior during fruition of cultural tourism events, and to the analysis and development of an innovative methodology for information retrieval and indexing of a large unstructured knowledge base.

The second part of the project was focused to finalize a loosely-coupled system architecture integrating the different system components (knowledge extraction, indexing, authoring editor for guides) and to design and implement the authoring tool for preparing multimedia tourist guides. Finally, the authoring tool has been evaluated with real professional tourist guide authors.

To validate the proposed methodology, the project developed a collaborative platform where non technical users can easily design and develop dynamic multimedia content for the proactive and personalized fruition of tourist routes and cultural paths both in physical (e.g. in the context of art cities) and in virtual locations.”
